Silo and Stock Supervisor [South Africa]


 

Description

The main responsibility of this position is to ensure the seed is stored correctly and to service bulk sales.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to take control of all machinery and its operation in the department.
  • Responsible to oversee the stop and start of all equipment within silo complexes.
  • All breakdowns, deviations and defects must be reported to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with tasks during breakdowns to ensure efficient plant availability.
  • Responsible for weigh-in and record keeping of all incoming seed.
  • Responsible for grading all incoming seed and supervising the offloading of seed.
  • Responsible for the allocation of the seed to the relevant silos.
  • Responsible for the drying of the seed and monitoring of the seed and cake silos.
  • Ensure continuous aeration and temperature control of all silos.
  • Responsible for continuously monitoring silo levels and the product structure and formation within the silo.
  • Monitor and report fill levels of all product levels within silos and report to the Plant Manager.
  • Responsible for supervising silo cleaning and inspections.
  • Responsible to recycle oilcake within cake silos continuously according to the program.
  • Responsible to ensure the filling of the holding bin for bagging units according to the planning schedule.
  • Responsible and take control of the cake bagging unit.
  • Ensure all bagged product is stored according to good storage practices.
  • Take responsibility to load bulk oil meal loads from meal storage silos.
  • Responsible to ensure good housekeeping practices and compliance to master cleaning schedules.
  • Ensure his subordinates are controlled and will ensure at all times that they are efficiently performing.
  • Responsible for all employees under control regarding timekeeping, discipline, and performance issues.
  • Ensure the policy and procedure of SOILL will be applied at all times.
  • Available for all training as required and scheduled by management.
  • Comply with Safety, Food safety and environmental procedure as per SOILL policy.
  • Any other reasonable relevant task allocated by the Plant Manager.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4
  • 2 to 4 years of experience as a Silo Operator, preferred
  • In-depth knowledge and management of grain silos
